Blending with the Snow

"Blending with the wind,
Snow falls;
Blending with the snow,
The wind blows.
By the hearth
I stretch out my legs,
Idling my time away
Confined in this hut.
Counting the days,
I find that February, too,
Has come and gone
Like a dream."
- Ryokan
Dewdrops on a Lotus Leaf: Zen Poems of Ryokan
Translated by John Stevens

Sometimes the best practice is to sit, doing nothing.

  1. Hello,

    I just found your excellent blog. Although a karate practitioner, I have a lot of time for the internal systems (especially bagua).

    I've just added a couple of nice snow photos I took last weekend to my own blog (click on sji and visit the karate blog).
