Stop Harassing Gay People

We do not support the unwise, unfair, and unwarranted harassment and hatred of persons who are homosexuals. We strongly object to MAGA Republicans who want laws that discriminate against LGBTQ persons.

If your outdated and mean religion encourages you to to hate people you don't even know, and waste time in your petty minds with thinking all the time about the private sexual activities of other adults... that's another good reason to remove the mental curses of religion from your life. Or, just from common sense: mind your own business. However, pedophile perverts like some Catholic priests or Donald Trump do deserve some serious legal oversight.

OK, say your personal preference is straight monogamous occasional heterosexual sex play/love. So your very uncomfortable, for unconscious reasons, around gay people. So What!

I don't harass vegetarians because I like Kung Pao chicken.

I don't hate short fat people because I am tall and skinny.

I don't despise Afro Hair because I am a bald old white guy.

I don't like red MAGA caps, but I don't start fist-fights with selfish jerks.

I don't hate Mexican and Latino Immigrants because my grandparents came from Italy and Germany. [I grew up in the Bandini Barrio in ELA.]

Please stop thinking so often and so emotionally about the sexual acts and preferences of other adults. It is a form of obsessive mismanagement of yourself.

If you are terribly concerned and riled up about the private sexual organs of other adults --- your mentally sick.

A Dying Old Man is Tossed Away

A Dying Old Man is Tossed Away

By Mike Garofalo

A skinny old man of brittle bones
failing in a screwed dementia brain,
family all dead, all alone,
living in a small ratty group home,
a penniless unknown on Medicaid,
can't think straight, can't vote.

Wears a red MAGA hat
put on his unwise hairless head
by a cruel Nurse Ratched Republican
as a joke.

Millionaire heartless political renegades
with visions of fancy expensive escapades
decide that Medicaid is welfare graft so
buy votes for a pompous fat stupid Axe
Cutting the helpless brainless man
Off of Uncle Sam's Medicaid rolls.

Where will he go?

Shame, shame on American ways.

God will no longer bless America;
He is disgusted and dismayed.

"Politics can be the graveyard of a poet;
and only poetry can be his resurrection."

Reopen the US Government

I think we elect Representatives to efficiently and effectively operate and oversee the US Government, NOT to shut it down. Representatives and the President need to compromise, get our federal employees back to work and providing services, and manage cooperatively and not argue so much.

I'm a senior, a veteran, and vote Democratic 65% of the time. Building a better border wall is OK by me; infrastructure projects employ our citizens and improve our roads, bridges, sewers, water systems, dykes, dams, border walls, sea walls, public buildings, etc. Democrats should compromise and approve a budget that includes money for an infrastructure wall along the Mexican border, and get more funds for water resource management and wind energy development.

Get federal employees back to work!

Thanksgiving Day Celebration

Happy Thanksgiving Day!!

T   hanks for time to be together, turkey, talk, and tangy weather.
for harvest stored away, home, and hearth, and holiday.
for autumn's frosty art, and abundance in the heart.
for neighbors, and November, nice things, new things to remember.
for kitchen, kettles' croon, kith and kin expected soon.
for sizzles, sights, and sounds, and something special that about.

That spells THANKS for joy in living and a jolly good Thanksgiving.

-   Aileen Fisher, All in a Word

"They began now to gather in the small harvest they had, and to fit up their houses and dwellings against winter, being all well recovered in health and strength and had all things in good plenty.  For as some were thus employed in affairs abroad, others were exercising in fishing, about cod and bass and other fish, of which they took good store, of which every family had their portion.  All the summer there was no want; and now began to come in store of fowl, as winter approached, of which this place did abound when they came first (but afterward decreased by degrees).  And besides waterfowl there was great store of wild turkeys, of which they took many, besides venison, etc.  Besides they had about a peck of meal a week to a person, or now since harvest, Indian corn to that proportion.  Which made many afterwards write so largely of their plenty here to their friends in England, which were not feigned but true reports.”
-   William Bradford, 1621

In 1863, Abraham Lincoln, declared the last Thursday of November to be a National Day of Thanksgiving.

The first photo shows part of our family in 2012, at our home in Red Bluff, on Thanksgiving Day.

Moving On

The votes have been cast, and the results have been announced.  Some candidates I favor were elected, and others were not.  Some ballot measures I favored were passed, others were not.

I tend to favor libertarian, socialist, progressive, ecological, and liberal viewpoints.

I favored the passage of the legalization of marihuana in California.  This ballot failed in past years, while Oregon and Washington legalized the sale to adults over 21 years of age for recreational use.  I have shopped at a number of really clean, upscale, and well stocked marihuana dispensaries in Washington and Oregon.  Marihuana sales are a boost to local agricultural entrepreneurs, retail sales, and tax revenues. Legalization frees up law enforcement to concentrate on more important crime solving and prevention tasks.  It also reduces the impact of the underground criminal drug activity.

A number of current and ongoing important political and social issues have less importance to a man of seventy years of age who is retired.

I favor a straight popular vote for the President of the USA, and the elimination of the Electoral College.  Also, I do not believe that each State should have only two senators.  There is something politically indecent and totally imbalanced with Wyoming (pop. 584,000) with two senators, and California (pop. 38,800,000) with only two senators.  The business and wishes of the greatest number of people in this country are stalled by a "rigged" representation allocation formula that gives minority population viewpoints and empty wilderness land undue and unwarranted political power in the Senate.

Voting Day in the USA

I voted by Mail In Ballot over two weeks ago.  Naturally, like most folks, I do follow news and information regarding the ballot measures and candidates.

May we have prosperous, productive, and peaceful months ahead.
