Bookstore Dilemma

bookstore browsed—
the smell of new books
and coffee brewed,
tasty poetry books to peruse.

My wallet wants to force a choice:
just one! just one!

Hungry to meet and hear them speak;
[ignoring my wallet}
I Bought Both!
Books are alive and talk repeatedly.
Entering the Cloud
She went outside, all alone,
opening her birthday present,
alive, she thought, by accident
Deep diving into veils of glass
rain on her last supper's plate
splitting her cold dead soul apart
Feeling the kitchen stove cooking
hearing transparencies unraveling
tasting the rusted bronze shield.
She saw clouds of cotton,
invading armies of carbon monoxide;
somehow she did not mind.
Five moths later
they found her dead,
her head in her oven,
Her eyes wide.
Syliva Plath, a suicide,
gave up her life, gladly,
before the age of 35.
Now she hardly knows herself
in her tiger striped sarcophagus
holding closely her copper pot.
She rests quietly in the dark.

We have been married for 58 years and have celebrated your birthday on St. Patrick's Day many times for much fun and celebration. Today, we will do the same.

Today is my 79th birthday.
My parents were Bertha June (1921-1994) and Michael James Garofalo (1916-1997). My two brothers were Paul and Phillip.

He was born in Downey, East Los Angeles, in 1980. Karen delivered with some difficulty, but our son and mom were doing well. We returned to our little home in Bell Gardens. Alicia went to first grade at Bandini Elementary, across the street from 2315 Couts Ave., where I grew up with my brothers in the 1950's.
He married April Scott. They lived in Portland, and since 2016 in Vancouver, WA.
He has been a restaurant and catering manager in Vancouver, Washington, since 2015.
Birthday Fun for Mick in 2022!
This year, in 2022, Mick, Karen and I went out for Japanese food at KungFun Noodle next to Home Depot. On 11/9, we enjoyed a wide array of dishes and drinks for $140.00. Then, we hosted a birthday party for Mick at our house on Saturday, 11/12. Karen and Mick made Chinese food. Then, I met with Mick and April at Grayland Beach State Park for Yurt camping on Monday afternoon 11/14.
