My Websites Are Offline

 I was working with my account at Network Solutions which handles my Internet websites registrations, and I messed up somewhere.  I can't get into my websites.  Will work on the problem on Monday morning.

Originally, before I used Bluehost as my webserver, I had registered and purchased my URL's for www.greenway.com and www.egreenway.com at Network Solutions back in 1998. No problems since 1998, until yesterday.

Costs run around $800 a year for all my Internet Publishing, while my website income has dwindled from $1,500 a year to under $400 a year.  I can afford to offer the webpages online to the world. And, will continue offer the webpages up to people until I die, and that is not too far away since I am 78 years old.

My advice to my readers is to DOWNLOAD and SAVE my specific webpages that you want to keep. If individual scholars or organizations want to copy and archive my webpages, they are free to do so.

I still get lots of positive feedback from readers around the world.

Recent Positive Feedback

"Thank you for you extensive HomePage, wise words and documentation of life wisdom. Truly inspirational."
- Christian Damguard, 3/3/2024

My Cloud Hands Blog has had 2,077, 666 Page Views since 2005.

My webpages have been viewed over 88,000,000 times since 1998.

"As I may have mentioned, I regularly consult your website on the Tao, as I am in the process of putting forth a new translation, with commentaries. … My current approach is completely different from the edition I put out some 20 years ago. I can’t say I’m embarrassed by my old translation, only that I no longer resonate with it. Again, that’s for your selfless service in putting together your page." - Jonathan Starr, 12/12/23

"By the way, your website on the Dao De Jing is totally awesomme!" - Solala Towler, 9/6/2023

DreamWeaver Days - Now Beginning

Dw     DreamWeaver

Adobe Dreamweaver Version 2.1 2021
I started using DreamWeaver on May 15, 2022
By Michael P. Garofalo

From 2003 to 2022 I used Microsoft Front Page 2003 to develop webpages and websites.
Pretty much simple .html webpages.  Index: https://www.egreenway.com/index.htm
Using Front Page was free after that first CD purchase way back in 2003.

I use CuteFTP for FTP file/image transfer/management, and do not, at present, use Dw for that function.  There are many specific 2 panel line ups I have set up and linked up via all the specialized FTP settings need to connect with my WebHome on a Blue Host WebServer in Utah.  All my specialized and personalized settings work well in the CuteFTP software.  I think I first used this FTP transfer software back in 2000.

I currently use the Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Bridge package (@ $11.00 per month) .   My wife and I have many current photography projects.

I have used Blogger since 2005.  It a quite powerful blogging tool for my low tech needs, is free, has plenty of options, and works just fine.

Unfortunately, My old "free" Microsoft Front Page 2003 will no longer work anymore @May2022!  Died!  RIP FrontPage.

I purchased, installed, and am now (5/15/2022-) using and learning to use
Adobe Dreamweaver Version 2.1 2021.

The Adobe Dreamweaver software comes with many good on-line instructional videos.  User groups, Q&A groups, UTube instructional videos, online instructors, and books are available to help a person learn how to create and edit webpages (i.e. hypertext documents, online documents) and manage whole websites using DreamWeaver.  Cost = $23.00 per month.

This DreamWeaver software is used my many website design professionals along with possible WordPress applications.

I purchased about $150 on DreamWeaver printed textbooks; mostly used.  I will probably use the following book as my main guide to using DreamWeaver:

Adobe Dreamweaver Classroom in a Book (2021 release)  1st Edition.  By James Maivald.  Adobe Press, 2021, 464 pages, $56.00.

For now, in May,

editing old webpages with Dreamweaver (Dw) for practice;
text editing features, side panels, tricks, search/find, design view WYSIWYG, keystroke setups;
inserting images, graphics, links, text;
reading Maivald's DreamWeaver book;
uploading edited hypertext documents to Blue Host WebServer using the CuteFTP software;
checking my work on Google Chrome home desktop Samsung screen;
check on consolidated $56.00 a month plan for all Adobe software;
templates in Dw for photo gallery or shows;
add more "Sites" to DreamWeaver;

Concrete Poetry and Text Art

In the month of December, 2019, I enjoyed research into topics related to communicating with text and images, and text orientated graphic arts.  I used library books, some used books I purchased, and the Internet to learn more about these subjects.  I played with and learned about CorelDRAW 2019 software each day.  Inclement weather kept us retired folks indoors more, and garden chores are reduced.

Blogger is not as robust graphically as WordPress, but Blogger is free and very stable.  I have been using Blogger since 2005.  Posting the following information on this blog helps to get a faster update by Google.

Here are some of my recently updated hypertext documents online:

One Million Page Views of Blog!!

The Cloud Hands Blog went online in 2005.  I have made 2,653 posts to this blog.

Since 2005, this blog has recorded over 1,000,000 Page Views!

Thanks to all my readers!

Also, my Green Way Research websites continue to record many webpage views each year:

www.gardendigest.com    Statistics for the 2016 Year (Google Analytics)

Page Views   862,538
Sessions       651,036
Users           562,401

www.egreenway.com        Statistics for the 2016 Year (Google Analytics)

Page Views   591,683
Sessions       331,906
Users           268,535

On the average, each month, these three web resources have a total of around 141,000 Page Views per month, and are distributed online each month to around 86,000 Users from all around the world.

I figure that my websites and blog have together served up over 29,000,000 Page Views since 1999.

Again, Thanks very much to all my readers!

Green Way Research Websites and Blog Usage for 2013

My online publications are found under the publishing masthead of "Green Way Research."  Two websites offer the documents: www.gardendigest.com and www.egreenway.com.

In 2013, usage of these two websites sharply declined from previous years. The number of webpages served to people around the world declined by 40%.

www.gardendigest.com    627,000 webpages served in 2013

www.egreenway.com       607,000 webpages served in 2013

Green Way Research       1,234,000 webpages total served in 2013

Cloud Hands Blog           400-500 people read my daily posts

These "results," nevertheless, are sufficient to motivate me to continue to donate funds and time in 2014 to maintain my online publishing efforts.  The topics I explore seem worthwhile to me: gardening, mind-body arts, philosophy, Eastern wisdom, art, Neopaganism, esoterica, poetry, mysticism, and psychology.

On Friday, I renewed my websites hosting with Blue Host for another year.  The "professional" package costs $300 for one year for all my websites.  I pay about $300 a year for the Internet service component of web publishing in our rural area.  I pay $50 a year for three web domains.  My average income from my two Green Way Research websites averages around $900 a year.  Blogger is a free service from Google.  Therefore, I can easily cover the costs of web publishing, and for occasional hardware/software upgrades.

Thanks to those, like Dr. Jerome Litt from Ohio, who have donated funds to support my web publishing efforts.

Lately, I've been reading books and articles on Process Philosophy, Hua-Yen Buddhism, Strength Training, Tao Te Ching, Play, Mystical Poetry, and Western Esoterica.

It is a pleasant semi-retirement time of life for my wife and I.

To my readers everywhere I say "Thank You and Best Wishes."

Leaping Through the Dragon's Gate

The start of the Chinese New Year in 2012 is on January 23, 2012, today.  This date begins 15 days of celebration in China.  This is the Year of the Dragon, the Water Dragon, 2012.  Gong xi fa cai!

Here are some of my webpages on the themes, myths and lore regarding Eastern Dragons; and some physical culture activities (Qigong, Chi Kung) based on Dragon themes.

On a Personal Note:

My 66th birthday is in January.  My personal objectives and resolutions for the Year of the Dragon 2012 are as follows:

1)   Loose 3 pounds of body weight each month in 2012.
2)
Continue to work part-time for two outside employers and for our home business.
3)   Complete the creation of the Magic Pearl Qigong
4)   Post each day to the Cloud Hands Blog.
5)   Resume teaching Taijiquan, Qigong, and Yoga at the Tehama Family Fitness Center on March 1, 2012.
6)   Finish the second draft of my website on the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu.
7)   Complete the creative and documentation work on the Dragon Qigong.
8)   Finish learning to perform the Chen Taijiquan Broadsword Form
9)   As soon as my foot surgeon releases me, then I will participate in the spin cycling class and lift weights every Monday and Friday morning.
10)  Learn to perform the Traditional Tai Chi Eight Immortals Cane, Routine Two (Cannon Cane) created by Master Jesse Tsao.
11)  Complete repair the patio roof, remove all dead trees, and finish the indoor painting projects.
12)
After paying into the United States Social Security Fund for 50 years, I am now eligible to begin receiving monthly benefits.
13)  Travel to Indiana, Southern California, Oregon coast, and the Olympia National Forest.
14)  Try my best to follow the Lifestyle Advice of Wise Persons.

15)  Seek appropriate medical services for my health problems.
16)  Finish learning the final movements of the Sun Taijiquan 73 Competition Form
17)  Reformat, revise, and update the Eight Section Brocade Chi Kung webpage.

18)  Continue to practice martial arts drills with my cane.
19)  Continue to maintain and improve our home gardens and orchard.
20)  This is my time to try to "Leap Through the Dragon's Gate."  It probably is my last time to live in a Year of the Dragon.

Web Publishing Notes for 2012:

I no longer maintain any other blogs besides the Cloud Hands Blog.  I will post to this every day in 2012.
Karen and I stopped maintaining Our Paths in the Valley Blog on August 23, 2011.

I stopped maintaining the Green Way Blog in 2010.  I stopped maintaining the Valley Spirit Blog in 2008.

I provide an alphabetical subject index to most of my online publishing about Taijiquan and Qigong.

All publications of mine are part of Green Way Research, Red Bluff, California.  Green Way Research is the home business of Mike and Karen Garofalo.

My Taijiquan webpages are found at the Cloud Hands Website.

My Qigong webpages are found at the Valley Spirit Qigong Website.

My gardening webpages are found at the Spirit of Gardening Website.

The Cloud Hands Blog is a hodgepodge of posts on the numerous themes cited in the subtitle of the blog:  Gardening, Taijiquan, Mysticism, Walking, Qigong and the Eight Ways.  The "Eight Ways" is vague enough to cover all my other regular and temporary interests.  Most of what I post to the Cloud Hands Blog reflects what I am creating and refining and publishing in static webpages.   Therefore, the Cloud Hands Blog is an ongoing index to my overall web publishing projects.

My Brief Biography is available online.

Our two websites: Garden Digest and Green Way Research are still popular.  Garden Digest serves up an average of 2.2 million webpages per year.  Green Way Research serves up an average of 1.4 million webpages per year.  We, of course, provide advertising options to business customers.

May we all enjoy a prosperous, productive, and pleasing Year of the Water Dragon in 2012.  May we protect and preserve the Pearl.
