August: Quotes, Poems, Lore, Garden Chores

We have been busy with gardening and watering plants during the hottest days of the year in Red Bluff.  Evenings are for watching the Olympic Games in London on DishTV.

We just got back from a vacation trip to the Olympic National Park in Washington.

  1. Good morning Mike,

Snow on our mountains but the peach tree that my 15yr old daughter planted as a pip when she was 8 is a riot of mini green leaves & pink budding lolipops just waiting to burst (& a few adventurous ones that have already).

I've been pondering the attitudinal canyon between walking one's life in the spirit of the "5 virtues" that you have listed in you wonderful array of resources, as contrasted with for example the "7 deadly sins".

Thank you for your informative site.

  2. I have tried to share "words of wisdom" about how to live one's life in my webpage called "Lifestyle Advice from Wise Persons" at http://www.egreenway.com/qigong/advice1.htm

I was indoctrinated in Catholicism from the 1st to 12th grade from 1951-1963. Catholics had hundreds of "sins" that could send you to hell for all eternity. It was a challenge as a child learning about all these mortal and venial sins that I should not do. Fortunately, I was enlightened and liberated at the age of 15, and wisely abandoned Catholicism forever.

We have many figs, plums, and ripe peaches in our orchard, as well as a large and productive vegetable garden.

    Best wishes,

    Mike
